ABOUT US
THE TANZANIA PLANNING SOCIETY

TPS is a non – profit voluntary Society devoted to carry out the aims and objectives specified in Article 5 of its Constitution. TPS was established by the declaration of the 32 committed planners from all over Tanzania who met on 26th October 2019 at the Boardroom of the Institute of Rural Development Planning located at the 5th Floor of the Academic Block II. TPS was registered under the Societies Act CAP.337 R.E. 2002 on 30th June 2021 with registration number S.A 22263.

To be holistically acceptable and totally involved in the development planning processes in Tanzania and beyond

Our Mission

To maintain and promote the cadre of development planning so that to bring forth the desired social and economic development in Tanzania and beyond

Objectives of the society

  1. To unite development planners at the grassroots, regional, and national levels so that they have a common voice as an important segment of the development process and thus become a partner of the government in brightening Tanzania's sustainable future.
  2. To coordinate development initiatives at the grassroots, regional, and national levels with the aim of fighting any form of poverty.
  3. To act as the main representative of development planners at the grassroots, regional, national, and international forums.
  4. To promote ethics and discipline among development planners.
  5. To cooperate with the management of the Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP), Dodoma, and any other institutions engaging in developing the cadre of development planning in any aspect aiming at maintaining world-class development planning training.
  6. To support the government's efforts in the fight against corruption.
  7. To promote its members through training, meetings, seminars, and workshops, exchange of visits, study tours, training courses, and symposia for the benefit and development of its members.
  8. To assist development planners in any manner that will enable them to access relevant opportunities.
  9. To provide communication linkage between development planners, the government, and other statutory bodies at the grassroots, regional, and national levels.
  10. To promote international cooperation and partnership with foreign development planners and other international societies dealing with development planning.
  11. To carry out research on all aspects of development planning in order to promote the prosperity of society and development planners themselves.

TPS Organs

TPS has four organs which are:

  1. The General Assembly
  2. The Executive Council
  3. The Branch General Assembly
  4. The Branch Executive Council comprising of representatives from district members, who are active in the region

TPS Leadership

The management of TPS is vested in the Executive Council which shall be comprised of the following;

  1. The President of the Society
  2. The Vice – President
  3. The Executive Secretary
  4. The Treasurer
  5. All Branch Chairpersons.
